> Ask azote about the cell membrane

You approach Azote and ask them about the membrane.

Azote: Wait... You mean... You actually want to hear me talk about the cell membrane
You hear an exaggerated cackle from behind. Polym. You let them know that, yes, you would like to hear them talk about the cell membrane.
Azote looks like you just told him he's allowed to cheat on game shows.
Azote: Okay so basically, the membrane is very important for regulating what goes out and comes into the cell. Like, the cytoplasm in the cell PROBABLY shouldn't be leaving khkhkh. and that's why the membrane doesn't let that happen. However, nitrogen and other small nonpolar molecules are let is easily. It has Selective Permeability.
Azote: The membrane all-in-all is made out of a whole bunch of things, but the primary thing it's made of is phospholipids (type of lipid with phosphate head). Because the phosphate heads are hydrophilic and the fatty acid tails are hydrophobic, then they're dropped in water they automatically make a bilayer with the heads on the outside and the tails on the inside. They do this without ANY form of thought or anything!!!
Azote: The membrane isn't only made of phosphates though. It's also has protiens and carbs and other types of molecules all around it! These serve MANY purposes. For example, channel and carrier protiens facilitate passive transport!
You look at them blankly.
Azote: Oh. They, uh, make the transport of stuff without using energy easier to do.
You think you've had enough educational content for now. You thank Azote for helping
Azote: Thank you for listening!
